Charlotte Centelighe

My work addresses questions related on a daily basis to understand how (human) lives are structured in time and places. The meetings, the movements, the displacements play anessential role together in my research. My work gives value to things and to nothing, to real stories that are not yet told. Through writing, census information, some installations of archives and with the act of reading or perform – I tends to bring out these stories of lives, like those worthy of a very good station novel. My work is similar to a kind of anthropology counter top.

Chaos - my artistic direction is rooted in chaos. Through my work, I aim to capture andexpress the raw energy of life. Joslyne Ohoka

My artworks are deeply infused with emotion, inviting viewers to explore a rich spectrum of feelings and perspectives. Predominantly featuring female figures, these characters are often depicted with closed eyes, symbolizing presence and introspection as they look inward. In some pieces, they are shown from behind, placing the viewer in a voyeuristic position that draws them into the visual narrative.

Through these images, I delve into themes of introspection, the connection to nature, and the delicate balance between solitude and social engagement. My illustrations serve as a bridge between imagination and reality. The intentional use of simple forms and textures not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also reflects a modern yet timeless quality, emphasizing the significance of connecting with nature, nurturing inner reflection.

In her opinion, onecould analyze the history of women's emancipation by considering the evolution oftextile art, as something moving from being traditionally carried out by females, toward a modern and feminist expression of the technique. On the other hand, she is fascinated by the materiality of the practice itself.Examples of this include the feeling of the thread gently passing through thefingers, the expressiveness of knots viewed as abrupt interruptions of theCollettivo artistico Matazzcontinuous line drawn by the taut thread, or the unique way in which colormaterializes in the fabric.

The paintings are invitations to look at them, perhaps also toparticipate in the happenings of the visual scene.

Uma

For me, the essence of creating or selecting music lies in the emotions a track evokes—whether through an instrument, rhythm, tone, melody, or voice. If a track resonates with me, it feels right. For the art event, I specifically chose tracks that would enhance this focus on the music and therefore forsters a deeper emotional connection. These are the moments when I truly enjoy searching for music and DJing, especially when I feel that spark of creative inspiration. I love to blend different rhythms and collaborate with lesser-known Swiss producers or older tracks that remind me of a time when listening was more intentional.

My creativity often comes in phases which can be frustrating, but music history helps me a lot to stay inspired. Influences like Detroit roots of electronic music and German techno have profoundly shaped my sound, along with artists such as Bambounou and Somatic Rituals. Ultimately, my goal is to create an immersive experience that invites listeners to feel and connect with the music on a deeper level. I started producing music myself, but kind of gave up, because it was not clicking in the technical brain area, but at least in the creative one.

JRA Schaller

I first started working with acrylic painting on canvas during my academic year abroad in Berlin in 2016. After living for a period in San Francisco and Boston, I moved back to Lausanne and developed a neo-expressionist style that depicts moments of my life and aims to characterize the environment I live in with a sense of self-criticism. In my 2023 exhibition, "Les Oiseaux de Minuit" and my 2024 event, “Breaking News”, I portrayed nightlife scenes from a viewpoint influenced by my personal experiences and by imaginary representations of people living on the margins of the common paths. Focusing on depictions driven by emotional and visual inputs impregnated in these nocturnal surroundings, I painted a series of blurry portraits, resisting the expectation for art to reproduce reality.
